Hey there I’m Jenna

Hey guys, my name is Jenna and I live in the area, so it is easy to commute when needed. I’m a Bio Medical major and in my junior year here. As for books, I enjoy dystopian and horror books and was in a book club in high school. A few fun facts about myself is that I draw and have a pet snake named Loki. Over break, one thing I did was play a lot of video games and chat with my friends. In this class, I look forward to learning new stories from our class books.

Hi, I’m Madison.

Hi, my name is Madison, my pronouns are she/her/hers. This is my final semester at Cortland, and I’m a professional writing major. I’m from Buffalo, NY and that’s where I’m finishing this year. My favorite novel is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hossieni and I’m looking forward to this semester!

Welcome!

Welcome to ENG 252: Intro to Multicultural Literature! I’m looking forward to our semester together.

Our first virtual class discussion will be on Wednesday, February 3 at 10:20. Prior to our first class, please complete the following tasks:

1) Read through the syllabus

2) Obtain the required books for the course. A physical copy is highly recommended so that you can take notes and contribute to our class discussions (plus, time looking at something other than a screen is important).

3) Register for our course website. It’s a work in progress and materials will be added throughout the semester. Instructions for registering are in the syllabus. I need to manually approve your registration, which can take a few days, so the sooner you register, the better. Please be sure to write down your username and password.

4) Watch this short video explaining how to use our course website.

5) Once I have approved your account, write a short blog post introducing yourself to the class. You can include any information you’d like (your name, hometown, major, where you’re from, what you like to read, a fun fact, something you did over break, something you’re excited about or hoping to improve in this course, etc.). Just be mindful that this is a public website — don’t reveal too much personal information. Once you’ve completed your post, read through other students’ introductory posts and leave a comment on at least one of them.

I look forward to meeting you all on Wednesday, February 3
